Do I have to pay to come to a Somerset auction or to register?
No. There is no charge for attending a Somerset Auction.
How do I place a bid on an item that I am interested in?
You will be assigned a buyer’s number when you register. To bid, simply hold your paddle in the air and keep it there until you win the item... or the price increases beyond what you are willing to pay. It's easier than you think.
Do I have the opportunity to look at the items before I bid?
Yes. Preview starts at 10 a.m. and lasts all day. In fact, we encourage that you preview the items during the auction. All items are available for viewing throughout the auction.
Can I see pictures of what you are going to have in your upcoming auction?
Yes. From the home page, simply click on ‘Auction Catalog’ to view pictures of hundreds of upcoming items. The Auction Catalog is available for on-line viewing every Thursday prior to each auction.
What if I buy something by mistake?
It is rare that a bidder's intentions are misunderstood by the auctioneers and although all sales are final if you should bid on an item by mistake, immediately get the auctioneer or the clerk’s attention and explain that a mistake was made. The auctioneer will then bring the item back up for bid and the auction will continue.
What if I see an item I want to bid on but can not stay until it comes up for sale?
Absentee bids are accepted and are a safe and easy method of bidding if you can not remain at the auction.
Am I able to pick up my items at any time or do I have to wait until the end of the auction?
Yes. The item is available for pick up at any time during the auction and up to 1 hour after the close of the auction.
Can I have my purchase delivered?
Yes. White glove delivery service is available. The charge is $75 for the first lot and $40 for each additional lot. The maximum charge is $275. A nominal mileage charge will be added for deliveries beyond 15 miles of the auction site.
What if for any reason I can not take my purchase with me?
If you can not take your purchase with you or can not have it delivered you may pick up your items at our warehouse in Santa Clara.
How can I pay for my purchase?
Somerset Auctions welcomes Cash as well as MasterCard, Visa and American Express. Personal checks are accepted when accompanied by two forms of identification.
What if I have a problem with one of my items after I get it home?
Somerset stands behind the merchandise it sells and guarantees all statements made by the auctioneer about the items. We are available by phone Monday through Thursday to answer any questions or take care of any concerns.
If I am a Dealer can I still buy?
Yes. When you register inform the staff that you are a business and present a copy of your Business License.
